The Celebrity Project Part 1

A lot of times we have a lot of customers coming over but end up being more confused by flipping through magazines and style books and end up not being able to decide on which style they want to follow.

Shunji Matsuo & Rhythm in Bronze

We are currently sponsoring the hairdo for the Rhythm in Bronze (RIB) Gamelan ensemble and we are enjoying every moment of it!  Members of the ensemble coming in thick and fast, a total of 21 of them will be coming to the salon everyday from Thursday 3rd Dec till Sunday 7th Dec 2009.

It was a lot of fun actually and also meeting up with the hilarious Edwin Sumun, a personal friend of Raymond. (No, Raymond was not involved in balding Edwin ;-)  We had some pictures taken in the salon, backstage and during the rehearsals.  Here are some pictures of what happened on Thursday.

Overall we enjoyed the performance and we feek that everyone should go and witness how such traditional instruments create music so alien to our city lives and yet so powerful to keep us lost and in trance with the music.

New Senior Stylist - Jessie Tang

We have a new Senior Stylist, Jessie Tang!  She's not exactly new to us as she was recently promoted from a Stylist to a Senior Stylist.

Being the most experienced Stylist naturally made her a candidate for the Senior Stylist position after Carven left.  So we would like to annouce that Jessie will be our new Senior Stylist alongside Ben-G to serve everyone. 

Jessie brings with her 5 years of experience from her sister's salon in Puchong to A Cut Above in Sunway Pyramid.  Her portfolio of customers sport commercial daily hairstyles suited to the office wear with minimal fuss and not forgetting also the strong following of male customers for their professional no frills look.

Jessie will be off on Wednesdays and haircuts are priced at RM 50 for him and RM 60 for her.

The Celebrity Project

First and foremost, a big THANK YOU to Jonathan Yam of JS Photoworks for the Photography work for our Celebrity Project.  We closed the salon today for half a day for some much needed photoshoot as you can only keep so much creative ideas under the lid ;-)

Here are some pictures taken throughout the day till 3pm.  The full album will come out in a week or 2.  So here's some behind the scenes of what to expect from our shoot today.

PETER TAN Photography Competition Winners Image Makeover

It felt like we were involved in a very special day for Mizzi and Yazone on Sunday the 15th of November 2009.  These 2 travelled all the way from Penang to see us for the makeover before the photography session with Peter Tan Photography.

What happened was that they recently won the Peter Tan Photography Lucky Couple Contest and we worked with Peter Tan to provide the grooming for the winners before the photoshoot.

Yazone (the guy in the picture) has his hair done by Raymond while Mizzi had hers done by Money.  Both the makeup was done by Mavis. I hope you guys like what you see and please go to our FACEBOOK FANPAGE to see more of the pictures.

Feature of the Month Competition Details Update

Hey hey!  We've decided to make some adjustments to the Feature of the Month Competition so as to keep things a little bit more closer and exciting. 

What is going to change is the uploading of the pictures.  Initially all pictures taken in October will only be voted in November.  However given this situation, those who have had their hair done in early October would have to wait till beginning November to get their pictures voted.  So it would have been a pretty long wait if you asked me.  (One month before i could flaunt my new do online? Neh...)

So for the November participants, instead of waiting for December to upload your pictures, we will begin uploading the pictures on the 20th of November through to 15th December.  Pictures will be updated on a daily basis (or as quickly as possible for voting) and the last day for new pictures to be uploaded will be 15th December.  Anything after that will be uploaded again from the 20th of December.

Thus in a nutshell it looks like this

November Participants
Pictures uploaded continually from the 20th November till 15th December. 
Pictures after 15th December, will be uploaded on the 20th of December for voting in January.

This will continue until we have 12 winners.

More details of the finals will be announced in due time.

Meanwhile, come on over and get your pictures taken!

P/S:  We've had quite a lot of contestants coming in and have their pictures taken but most of them did not put on their makeup.  So you are all encouraged to bring your makeup along and any accessories if you see fit.

Surprise surprise!

It was a normal day when suddenly in came Zizan Nin!  Everyone was excited seeing the man in the flesh himself standing in front of the counter asking for a hair cut!

Makeup Services & Mavis

Remember the times when you take pictures in your best dressed self during night functions and just to regret them the next day when you try to upload them to facebook just because your makeup was over exposed?

That white face that does not match your neck even though you had your favourite dress on?

Since you are already letting us handle your hair that evening, why not also let us manage your make up?  Besides, its always very rushing to get the hair done before the event in the evening most people tend to not do their hair and end up avoiding cameras all night.  No?

Enter Mavis Ang.  She is one of our talented stylists who also took a course in makeup together with hairdressing.  Her experience includes Bridal Makeup, Day Wear, Night Wear and Fantasy.

We charge RM 85 for makeup.  If you have your own lashes, we won't charge any extra for putting them on.  However if you require them, they are available to you at a paltry sum of RM15.

Makeup @ Shunji also entitles an entry into the Feature of the Month contest too!

1.  Our hair cuts start from RM 35 onwards.
2.  We have makeup services @ RM 85

Well now you do... its no longer a MYTH.  Its a FACT.  We're not as pricey as you think! :p
