Hair Trends for 2010

In this article we discussed the trends that we will be seeing in the year 2010 where a return of the 80s hairstyles are likely with more emphasis on VOLUME.  Not forgetting also is the HALO, making a super comeback stronger than ever, adding a more edgy and creative persona to the wearer (which is YOU)

Also coloring the theme of the 80s with would be the color RED.  Chilli RED, Deep RED and other REDS are also going to be the color of the year (I wonder if there's a Ferrari RED ;-)

Raymond Chew Column in Emmagem

Its been a while since we've posted anything as we've been busy preparing articles and materials for our new column in Emmagem where Raymond Chew will the in-house consultant extraordinaire for your tresses on Emmagem.com.  Sounds like fun.  Can't wait to put our journalistic tendencies to the sword!

Shunji Matsuo & Rhythm in Bronze

We are currently sponsoring the hairdo for the Rhythm in Bronze (RIB) Gamelan ensemble and we are enjoying every moment of it!  Members of the ensemble coming in thick and fast, a total of 21 of them will be coming to the salon everyday from Thursday 3rd Dec till Sunday 7th Dec 2009.

It was a lot of fun actually and also meeting up with the hilarious Edwin Sumun, a personal friend of Raymond. (No, Raymond was not involved in balding Edwin ;-)  We had some pictures taken in the salon, backstage and during the rehearsals.  Here are some pictures of what happened on Thursday.

Overall we enjoyed the performance and we feek that everyone should go and witness how such traditional instruments create music so alien to our city lives and yet so powerful to keep us lost and in trance with the music.

Raymond Chew, Director @ Shunji Matsuo Mid Valley

Raymond or Ray or BRO! is another one of our Directors we have in Shunji Matsuo Hair Studio Mid Valley.

Often patient and a man of few words, Raymond's fair skin tone and boyish charms leaves most clients in disbelief when he speaks about his experience in the hairdressing industry which is more than 20 years.

Though as mentioned above as being a man of few words, clients feel most at ease during consultation as Ray believes that connecting with the clients needs are most essential in creating a style that is both wearable and trendy at the same time without looking out of place.

Ray has been in the hair industry for more than 22 years after graduating from Vidal Sassoon in London. He has won numerous awards and recognitions i.e winning the 2004 Schwarzkopf Malaysian Hairdresser of the Year Award and also represented Malaysia in Shanghai after winning the Malaysian Hairdressers award by P & G in the same year.

Besides those accolades, Ray is also a certified Kerastase Specialist and a Certified Loreal Color Expert from the Loreal Professionel Color Expert Program. He also involves himself in grooming classes for high profile corporations and also does wedding consultations including hair and make-up for the brides.

Ray's work has also graced many fashions shoots for newspapers and major magazines like Her World, Female, Marie Claire, Bazaar and others, fashion shows for major fashions houses and hair shows. His portfolio of clients include a very strong following of both Caucasian and Asian customers as well as the Malaysian Elite.
